Fairmont Artifacts

Pittsburgh, PA

2004

In late 2004, as construction crews began to break ground on Three PNC Plaza in Downtown Pittsburgh, they discovered an extraordinary collection of artifacts dating to the city’s pre-industrial days. From the thousands of objects left behind, archaeologists developed a chronicle of the merchants, entrepreneurs, artisans, and immigrants who lived and worked in Pittsburgh more than 150 years ago. Clear Story designed, curated, and installed a comprehensive exhibit of historical artifacts that were discovered during the excavation of the Three PNC Plaza. As the lead firm, Clear Story assembled and managed the exhibition team, developed the concept, curated the content, designed the exhibit, oversaw fabrication, and installed the display systems.
